Why not just leave the lid open for a while after running the washer so that it has a chance to dry out? That's all I ever do, and I've never had a problem. I see no need for a fan, unless perhaps you're in a very humid climate.

Where our washer is located, the door is sometimes in the way, so it often sits only cracked open. That's one case in which this could be helpful.

If leaving the door open isn't enough, a small fan attached to the air intake should help. Can't see any downside.
