Can you recommend a source for a solar reflecting film?

Question:
Is there a durable, shrinkable film that can be applied on the outside portion of the extrusion (that which would be facing towards the outside of the house) that can serve as a solar block for hot climates? Are there any anticipated problems that need to be examined in regards to this proposed configuration (e.g. excessive heat build up, condensation, etc.)

The window insulation panel is for application to the interior side of an existing window.

    Jonathan,
    Several manufacturer make window films to reduce solar gain. These films are designed to be applied to existing window glass, so their intended use is different from what you are suggesting. Still, these films may be of interest to you.

    I'm not recommending them -- in general, low-SHGC double-pane windows are better than plastic window films -- but, for your information, here are some manufacturers:
