Shop ridge vent

cwbibby| Posted inGeneral Questionson

I have a new shop building with a metal roof and the builder used a plastic ridge vent. I have noticed a lot of debris on the floor directly under the ridge vent. Have installed R-13 on the walls and radiant barrier on the user side of the roof along with an A/C mini split unit.

Is there any way to seal the ridge vent or put something on or u set it to keep debris from coming in and keep rain water from getting in during heavy storms? I live in the Deep South east. Lots of heat and an occasional hurricane, lol. Any help would be appreciated.

    CW,

Peel off the ridge vent and replace it with something like this designed not to leak.

    H Malcolm -

Had not seen this type of ridge vent before - thanks for sharing.

I am currently working on wingnut testing of ridge vents (//m.etiketa4.com/article/wingnut-testing-soffit-ridge-roof-venting).

I am right now testing the way that wind works in soffit-to-ridge venting. Will see if these folks are willing to send me a length or two to test.
