Tyvek tape vs. 3M #8087 tape

Kevin McGuire| Posted inGreen Products and Materialson

In all of the tape articles I couldn’t find an answer about these:

Will the 8087 perform just as well on tyvek homewrap as the tyvek seam tape?

Has anyone tested 3m 8087 up against the tyvek tape? They’re both acrylic based tapes with similar functions. Ones half the price of the other.

thanks!

    Hi Kevin -

I have not head-to-head tested these two tapes. I am checking in with tech contacts at 3M; stay tuned. Or maybe other GBA community members can weigh in, as well.

Peter thank you and looking forward to the findings.

Related, will 8067 stick well to pressure treated plywood. 3m tech couldn’t answer that for me Ever seen it? Thanks!

I have been dissappointed in the 8087, re: long term adhesion to some materials. When I last used Tyvek tape it was very sticky and didn't peel off.
