[Note to GBA readers: if you want to Google the products that Quinton Bryant is talking about, here is the correct spelling: The manufacturer is Cor-a-Vent. The products are the SV-3, the Sturdi-Strip, and the Sturdi-Starter.]

    Quinton,
Most builders use 1x4 furring strips rather than plastic furring strips like Sturdi-Strips.

Sturdi-Starter looks like it would work fine, but there are alternatives (ripped siding or some other shim made from job site scraps).

SV5 only works for furring strips that are between 3/8" and ½" thick, so that product can't be used with 1x4 furring strips.
