Recommendations for a small HRV
Hi everyone
I’m looking to buy an HRV for our small (1000 sqft) ranch home.
I already installed all the dedicated ductwork last year and had been using a home-made HRV that worked very well, but I don’t have the time to keep tinkering with it to get it to work just right. The cabinet was made of plywood and I kept having problems with the air streams crossing and causing condensation and mold in the cabinet.
Anyway as a result I’m going to hook up a new HRV to my ductwork.
I’d like a small unit – I will be installing it in a closet
Quiet would be good
Also with ports on top
And uses 4″ duct.
I’ve been poking around on the internet to find products but I just wanted to throw a word out there to see if anyone had any specific recommendations.
Thanks in advance!

Carlo,
I am in the beginning process of trying to figure out which HRV and how to install it in the home I am building. I am pretty good at construction but am limited in my ductwork experience. Did you use all plastic flex ductwork? Did you hard pipe it? What parts of the ductwork did you insulate?
Thank you for any info you can share.
Kail,
Here is a link to an article that explains what you need to know about ducting an HRV:Installing a Heat-Recovery Ventilator.
