What is the best way to go about a ‘total greening’of an historical home (140 yrs) w/out gutting it to the bones? What certification programs are available?

I’m having a tough time finding how it can fit into LEED certification, which is my preferred choice if it was applicable.

Clay,
I'm not sure there is any real definition of the phrase "total greening." Rehabbing a historic building always involves a series of compromises: one the one hand, retaining as many original features as possible, and on the other hand, bringing outdated features up to modern energy performance standards.
