Diagonal bracing and cladding

bluscape| Posted inGeneral Questionson

If both my interior and exterior walls are cladded with OSB, do I still need diagonal bracing in the sections where bracing would typically be required?
To put it differently, will OSB cladding provide enough support such that I can eliminate bracing?

An example of where I would typically add bracing is the corner of a wall.

A wall is typically considered to be braced if it is sheathed with something like osb or plywood on one side. However, in areas that have high seismic or wind loading there may be additional bracing requirements. I would contact your local building department for guidance.

The fact that you say there is osb on the interior walls leads me to believe that there is seismic requirements for your area.
