farmama4| Posted inGeneral Questionson

Are there laws (in Vermont) in regards to building an outhouse. In say a small town forest?

    Farm Mama,
Check with your local office of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, and then check with your town's health officer. Regulations vary, and requirements may be different for existing houses than they are for a new installation. If this is a town forest, there will almost certainly be town regulations concerning what can and cannot be built in the town forest.

When I built my house in Vermont in 1974, I built and used an outhouse. Outhouses were legal in the 1970s, but regulations have changed.
