I live in a 1950s cape-style in Massachusetts. The roof is vented with soffit and ridge, plus gable vents.

Can the combination of vent systems interfere with each other? I’ve read here that ventilation is the third consideration for a dry attic, but I still want to get it “right”.

I would have to cut a hole to get into the limited attic space, and then it would be a very tight crawl to look around. However I am seeing repeated cracking in new paint. Could these cracks be moisture related? (One photo is the intersection of flat-to-sloped ceiling)
