绝缘环托梁在狭小空隙?

Joe Watson| Posted inEnergy Efficiency and Durabilityon

Hi,

I live in Richmond, VA (4A Climate) and have a 2-3 foot high crawlspace. Does it make sense to get one of those spray foam kits (closed cell) and go around and do the rim joist area? My crawlspace is still vented (meaning I have the grates that are open on several sides. There is no evidence of any moisture anywhere. I have been reading articles, watching videos but they are more geared to those houses that have basements. How about in my situation? Any value?

Thanks,
Joe

    Joe,
What you need to do is seal the vents (and perform associated insulation work) to convert your vented crawl space to an unvented crawl space.

When you do that work, you'll need to insulate the rim joist areas. Full details here:Building an Unvented Crawl Space.
